About Hammond Residents Directory

Hammond no longer has one printed book that names every resident. Useful facts are divided among Lake County property and deed records, Indiana voter and court tools, and Hammond Public Library's historical collections. We organize those official routes so readers can choose the right office or shelf from a name, address, or period in time.

Why We Built This Reference

Printed Hammond directories ended, but the source records continued under different custodians. Lake County keeps assessment, deed, court, probate, election, and vital files. Indiana operates statewide case, voter, business, and license tools. The Suzanne G. Long Local History Room preserves directories, maps, yearbooks, newspapers, and family files. We bring the verified search routes, contacts, known coverage, and limits into one Hammond reference while leaving every official record with its custodian.

What Readers Can Find

  • Distinct search paths: the directory by street, historical city directories, and a one-person resident lookup
  • Named custodians: the Lake County Assessor, Recorder, Clerk, voter office, vital records desk, and Hammond Public Library
  • Practical methods: steps for reading a parcel, checking a case name, following title backward, or comparing directory years
  • Indiana access rules: public routes, restricted files, and requests under the Indiana Access to Public Records Act

Limits on Our Role

This is a privately operated reference, not part of Hammond, Lake County, Indiana, any court, or any library. Those boundaries mean:

  • We cannot verify that a particular person now lives in Hammond.
  • We do not retrieve, certify, amend, or issue government records.
  • We cannot add or remove a name from an official roll.
  • We do not provide legal advice about records or disputes.
  • We cannot guarantee that a portal, fee, contact, or collection has not changed.

Only the record custodian can certify or correct its file. Nothing found here may be used for credit, employment, tenant screening, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated decision.
